Ethics complaint process

To file a complaint against a town official:

File the complaint with the town’s Ethics Liaison (selectboard member Josh Bell) or send to washingtontownclerk@gmail.com, or to Selectboard, 2895 VT RT 110, Washington, VT 05675.

Go to the town hall for a complaint form or request one from the town clerk at 883-2218 or washingtontownclerk@gmail.com.

A valid complaint usually involves:

  • Conflicts of Interest: Using an official position for personal or financial gain.

  • Abuse of Authority: Acting beyond the scope of their authority.

  • Unprofessional Conduct: Failure to adhere to standards of conduct.
