1. Introduction
The Town of Washington, Vermont is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors for a road reconstruction project on West Corinth Road. This project involves full-depth excavation and rebuilding of a 1,320-foot section of roadway to improve structural integrity and prepare for future asphalt surfacing
2. Project Scope
The project involves the following tasks:
Excavation
Excavate and remove 36 inches (3 feet) of existing roadway material.
Affected roadway dimensions: 1,320 feet long by 22 feet wide, approximately 3,220 cubic yards of material.
Haul and properly dispose of all removed material in accordance with local, state, and environmental regulations.
Base Construction
Install full length and width geotexile for road separator
Supply and install 24 inches of dense grade crushed stone (DGCS) across the full width and length.
Compact the stone in layers to meet structural and compaction standards.
Top Layer Installation
Supply and install 6 inches of fine crushed gravel over the DGCS base.
Fine grade and compact to provide a smooth and stable roadbed.
Ditching
Reconstruct ditching and off chutes
Reinstall any affected culverts to private driveways
3. Location
The work is located on West Corinth Road, in the Town of Washington, Vermont. The exact section to be reconstructed will be where the pavement ends near the north entrance of Vermette Lane and conclude 1320 ft south at the driveway of 565 West Corinth Rd.
4. Contractor Qualifications
Contractor must have experience with municipal roadwork and base reconstruction.
Must be able to complete the project in accordance with Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) specifications.
Provide proof of current liability insurance and workers’ compensation coverage.
Must comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
5. Proposal Requirements
Each proposal must include:
A detailed cost estimate, including unit pricing.
A proposed schedule, including anticipated start and finish dates.
A list of equipment to be used.
A summary of qualifications and experience on similar projects.
References from at least two recent municipal road construction jobs.
Proof of insurance and bonding (if applicable).
6. Submission Instructions

Late proposals will be rejected.

A mandatory site visit and pre bid construction meeting will be held on Thursday May 22nd, 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Washington Town Clerks Office, 2895 VT Route 110, Washington, VT

Reconstruction of West Corinth Road – 1,320 Linear Feet
The Town of Washington is seeking sealed bids from qualified contractors for the reconstruction of approximately 1,320 feet of roadway on West Corinth Road. The scope of work includes but is not limited to: excavation, subbase and base reconstruction, compaction and preparation.
Bid Due Date: Proposals must be received no later than Friday, June 2, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Washington Town Clerk’s Office, 2895 Vermont Route 110, Washington, VT 05675. Proposals must be clearly labeled “West Corinth Road Reconstruction Proposal.”
Bid Opening: Bids will be publicly opened on June 3rd, 2025 6:30 PM at the Town Clerk’s Office.
Specifications and Proposal Documents: Full bid specifications can be obtained from the Town Clerk’s Office and documents will also be available on the Town’s website at https://washingtonvt.org/
The Town of Washington reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive any informalities, and to select the contractor deemed to be in the best interest of the Town.
