School clerk needed

Echo Valley Community School District- District Clerk

The Echo Valley Community School District (EVCSD) is seeking a resident of Washington or Orange to serve as School District Clerk.

The District Clerk is a statutory position under Vermont law and plays an important role in supporting the district's governance, particularly in relation to elections and official district meetings.

This is not a School Board position and is distinct from the role of Board Clerk that supports regular Board meetings; the District Clerk's responsibilities are focused primarily on elections and official district meetings.

In EVCSD, the primary responsibilities of the District Clerk include:
-Facilitating district elections, including Australian ballot voting
-Overseeing the counting and certification of votes
-Recording minutes of the Annual and any Special District Meetings
-Receiving public records requests (with fulfillment coordinated through the central office)

While Vermont statute assigns broader responsibilities to the District Clerk, many operational tasks—such as preparing and posting warnings—are supported by the Superintendent's office.

This role is especially important in ensuring that district votes and annual meeting proceedings are conducted accurately, transparently, and in accordance with state law.

The position includes an annual stipend of $1,000.

If you are interested in serving in this role, please submit a brief statement of interest to Superintendent Matthew Fedders at mfedders@cvsu.org.

The Board will make an appointment at an upcoming meeting.
