Military Papers: Who Knew!

• Record Discharges: Under 24 V.S.A. § 1175, town clerks must record the honorable discharges or certificates of service for all members of the U.S. Armed Forces.

• Forward Copies: The clerk must make a photographic or approved copy and send a certified copy right away to the office of the Adjutant General.

Feel free to send or bring in any that you’d like to have on permanent record at the town hall. This would be especially wonderful for anyone who does not have an heir to pass the papers down to. Those military personnel would be remembered and honored by those who searched.
